The transformation of the town centre will focus on regenerating the heart of Barrow into a lively, cultural, and leisure destination.
Improvements will be guided by masterplanning, enhancing heritage buildings and public spaces, and supporting new food, retail, and residential development.
BAE Systems’ purchase of three former retail properties will not only provide a new and valuable community asset but also significantly increase footfall, hopefully leading to increased spending in the town centre. We are already seeing the positive ripple effect of this, with an increase in independent shops, cafes, and food outlets on the high street.
